Raised Toilet Seats – How They Help with Health Care
A raised toilet seat is a lot different than an actual toilet seat riser. There is a big difference, although they may be referred to as one and the same. A toilet riser raises the height of the actual toilet. Raised toilet seats attach to the toilet bowl and increase the height of the toilet seat or the patient sits directly on the raised toilet seat. A toilet riser can be a hassle, because it requires putting the entire toilet onto a raised platform. But raised toilet seats can just be put on top of the toilet seats. This saves a lot of time and effort in installation. It’s also a much cheaper alternative to raising the toilet. However, they both solve the same problem. Which type is right for you is simply a matter of preference.
Raised toilet seats come in a variety of options with different seat heights. Usually they are made of durable plastic. This makes them easier to clean and care for. There are some padded raised toilet seats that are intended to be more comfortable then the plastic raised toilet seats but the padding is harder to keep clean. Foam generally traps odors and germs. It must be washed on a regular basis, at least weekly. It also doesn’t last as long as a toilet sear raiser made from plastic. Overtime it can crack or tear from repeated use and cleaning. But plastic raised toilet seats last much longer. They also can be fairly comfortable and not any different on your skin then a regular toilet seat lid.
Most raised toilet seats add 2 to 5 inches to the toilet. Some aren’t actually seats. Some are really just pads that are added to the bottom of the toilet seat. This raises the actual toilet seat without having to sit on anything. This type of toilet riser has several advantages. It’s discreet because it attaches directly to your toilet bowl but goes under your existing toilet seat lid which means that guests can use it without feeling uncomfortable.
